A very important measure to develop inside higher education and research institutions links to reflexivity. Gender mainstreaming policies have stressed the importance very much of generating institutional and structural change within research and higher education organizations. However, increasingly evidence is being gained concerning the lack of effectivity of some changes being promoted inside organizational settings. One of the hugest problems to be faced relates to the way people perceive equality of gender as a matter of collective wellbeing, being able to discern and share diverse ways of being successfully in science and research, even if not responding linearly to mainstreaming ideas concerning taken for granted ideas on what is academic success. Therefore, more reflexivity is needed inside organizations, so people can be more competent in theoretical and practical terms about gender issues, stop thinking about gender as a terrain of dual and antinomic realities. This reflexivity can be provided by different manners, but the own context of research, especially if involving interviews and focus groups as well as other qualitative contexts of data collection, can be a great ground for putting people thinking differently, driving them to question their own presuppositions on gender. Being asked about several topics concerning gender in science, actors can go back to their memories, rethink the motives as well as the impacts of their ways of thinking and behaving, becoming more collaborative not only in terms of data collection, but also in terms of developing active and interventionist actions at organizations soils. Another important action that can be developed to face this challenge includes the collection and the telling of life stories of more man in science and research, as well as of women. Not only those women and man which show mainstreaming successful careers, as stated before. But women and man that are doing their careers following different strategies regarding personal and family lives. The more diversity we can communicate to others on the possibilities of academic, research and professional careers, the more they become prepared to face alternative routes for success that includes gender consideration. Reflexivity is strongly important for creating epistemological conditions upon what delicate questions, such as recruitment and selection can be addressed. Therefore, publications with views and reports on work/balance experiences, both from man and women, can be a useful and adequate manner of making diversity more visible. This happens particularly for the case of man, as there is a need to show more man with different modes of looking and doing o their careers, precisely given their family lives.
